LVP Installation for Michelle O.

Michelle O. contacted us on the advice of her best friends, a couple that had P&Q Flooring install some vinyl plank flooring for them a few years ago. She really liked how her friends felt about the performance of the LVP they bought, so she asked that we provide her with a free estimate as well. Michelle had a long term plan to occupy the home, as well as having children, pets, friends constantly sleeping over…just your basic active family lifestyle.

After comparing different options, she eventually settled on Coretec, Pro Plus in the Galveston Oak color. This was a great option as the product is almost bulletproof. With a rigid core construction, she got one of the most dimensionally stable, waterproof floors on the market. Pro Plus even has a 20 mil wear layer that carries a lifetime residential warranty, as well as an insulating padding already attached. She contracted with P&Q Flooring to do the entire upstairs.

When the installers finished that day, she was so excited about the new look it gave her home, she called in to the store and ordered enough to replace the flooring on the entire main level of her home. We certainly appreciate the business Michelle, but here is the good news…your new floor is going to look that good for a loooong time!

Conti Acting Studio

When it was time for new carpet and flooring, The Professional Acting Studio on Roswell Road in Atlanta reached out to P&Q Flooring. We had done several projects for the owner, Nick Conti in the past. However, this time he had a need for his acting studio that required a complete makeover. For the office and waiting area, Nick wanted something unique in style and extremely durable. We recommended and installed Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring in this space. The Mohawk Vinyl Plank Nick chose is completely waterproof and very scratch resistant. As you can see in the pic’s, it presented an artistic aesthetic that’s fun, vibrant and truly unique. His students can spill as much Starbucks on it as they want, without fear of it becoming stained or warped, and is easily maintained.

For the carpet portion of the studio, Nick chose a solution dyed nylon product from Shaw Industries. It matched the coloring of the LVP and was a beautiful compliment. The reason we suggested he use a solution dyed nylon is because this too has inherent stain release technology, and is designed to take heavy traffic in certain areas. Our install tech’s finished the job in under two days which impressed Nick, considering the size and scope of the project

The list can change depending on certain variables that can be different depending on the situation. If you have investment property or you’re marketing the house for sale, your decision may be very price driven. However, if you are purchasing for your primary residence, expect to be in the home for years to come and have an active family lifestyle with kids/pets, your priority list can and should change. Carpet Yarn Types

When you are considering purchasing new carpeting, there are several factors to consider. Most consumers focus on look, feel and price when comparing options. However, one critical factor that gets overlooked, especially when shopping in an environment that doesn’t specialize in carpet is yarn type. Selecting the right yarn system for your use and expectations can mean everything related to the overall performance and long term value of the purchase. Choosing the correct yarn system ensures that your carpeting will look newer longer than selecting a product that seemed to have great initial apparent value, only to show wear and stains quickly.

Below are the most common yarn types and the associated features and benefits:

Olefin

Most commonly used in light commercial applications and entry grade residential Berbers. Olefin is inexpensive and in the right construction can be an economical solution. However, it has very little memory retention and is “oily”, so it needs cleaning more often to release stain and soil.

Polyester

Has seen improvements in the last 3-5 years. Many cut-pile carpet options in polyester offer an affordable solution for residential use. Stain and soil warranties have improved, however memory retention and twist levels are still average at best. Depending on the amount of foot traffic, these products may begin to show sign of wear within the first 18-24 months.

Nylon

This yarn system has a couple of variables, however in general have historically been easier to clean and maintained their new look for several years. Nylon is more expensive and can be hard to judge the initial value because you get less dollar for dollar. However, the warranties are extended due to it’s cleanability and resiliency. The customer can expect a nylon carpet to perform at a high level for a long time.

Triexta

This yarn type combines durability, softness and exceptional performance. Typically it’s the most expensive yarn type comparably, however offers superior wear and cleanability. Triexta is also extremely soft, offering an un-paralleled experience underfoot. Accordingly, the warranty package associate is among the industries best.

Whichever yarn system you select, make sure to upgrade the cushion padding. This is an inexpensive way to support the yarn system and over the years provides a better feel and superior value to the purchase.
